Mechanical Music Museum
Les Gets, the world capital of Mechanical Music invites you to its museum that brings together a unique collection of over 550 pieces including chimes, clocks, music boxes, street organs, rides, mechanical and pneumatic pianos, animated pictures, phonographs and jukeboxes. Aulps Abbey
Situated 800 metres above sea level in the heart of the Chablais pre-alps, the Aulps Abbey was founded in the late eleventh century. Its monks became affiliated to the Cistercian Order in 1136. It became one of the most important monasteries in medieval Savoie. The buildings were largely destroyed in 1823. Until 1998, the monastic estate was a farm. Over an area spanning three hectares, the estate of Aulps Abbey is located in the heart of the Chablais pre-alps. It houses the remains of the abbey, cellars, gardens, the gatehouse and above all the old monastery farm. The latter houses a unique historical centre in France which opened to the public in 2007 and is dedicated to the everyday lives of monks in a mountain abbey during the Middle Ages. Special attention has also been paid to the Abbey gardens with the creation of a botanical garden (herbularius) and a vegetable garden (hortus).
